I am a Thiin Mah, Ngoonooru Wadjari girl on my grandmother and grandfather side from Meekatharra and Carnarvon.

My name is Sydney. I am a Thiin Mah, Ngoonooru Wadjari girl on my grandmother and grandfather side from Meekatharra and Carnarvon. Born and bred Hedland but grow up area Karratha, Wickham and  Roebourne. 

I have been drawing most of my life but stretching was my go to. Growing up watching my grandfather Douglas Ryder paint was always amazing and wanted to follow in his step. He taught me and my sister to paint like him but in our own way. I had stop painting and drawing for a while after finishing school and looking for work. While working for the dole at Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation I had to pick an activity to do and it was art and crafts. I had did my first big painting and loved it, a few years later as my sister started painting at Spinifex Hill art studio she had suggested for me to join and paint. I have been there almost a year now and lovely every bit of it. I'm a mother of 2 young kids which everyone which i take to Spinifex Hill art studio and everyone loves them.
